Before I go on to say anything, let me first thank Lily & Darnel (Danny) for trusting Anyeka and myself. We were super honored you asked us to photograph your destination wedding at the Club Indigo Hotel in Haiti. After getting to know you both during your engagement session, I just had a feeling we were a perfect fit. Undoubtedly, we will forever cherish those few days we spent with you, your family, and closest friends.
We left JFK for Port Au Prince on Thursday, and on our flight we met a large group of 20-30 year olds. We quickly realized that we were all heading down for Lily & Danny’s wedding. The next day Anyeka & I traveled into town with Lily & Danny for a portrait session. This gave us a chance to leave the resort and experience a different part of Haiti. We photographed them at the Ogier-Fombrun Museum which holds a great amount of rich Haitian culture and artifacts.
On Saturday the big day was finally here. I don’t know if I’ve ever actually used the word “epic” prior to photographing Lily & Danny’s wedding. But just a few hours after the wedding festivities, I took to Facebook to describe the wedding and EPIC was the first thought that came to mind. It wasn’t just that we were having fun, but it was the way everyone was enjoying themselves. Wedding days don’t always go according to how it was planned or envisioned. After all these years I get that. I now know that what truly makes a day special is how we embraced what is unexpected with confidence and grace.
It was H.O.T, but we still saw nothing but smiles. Everyone was behind schedule, still Lily & Danny smiled. It rained which made us think that planned events such as lighting the sky lanterns would no longer happen and still everyone smiled. Everyone stuck it out, partied and danced the night away until the rain came and left.
Angie from Konfetti Decor did an amazing job coordinating the day. Last but not least, it wouldn’t be fair if we didn’t thank both of Lily’s best friends. Jewel who is one of our past clients. She’s become an awesome friend! Thank you for referring us Jewel. And Shantini, one of the best makeup artists in the land. She worked hard on the wedding day and made the bridesmaids look flawless.
Thank you for the great work Josh and Anye!
