This past January I was able to photograph my first European wedding. It was a wonderful experience. Documenting a different ceremonial ritual was a breath of fresh air from what I’m used to photographing in the west.
Even with the uncertainty of the volatile weather, Doros and Helen were extremely excited to have us over to photograph their wedding. Their friends and family traveled from the US and all over Europe to share this momentous occasion with them. Unlike western culture in Cypriot culture, the bride and groom gets prepared in the presence of their friends and family along with other traditional rituals. Their reception was held at Famagusta Gate which is part of the fortified medieval town wall of Nicosia. The formal reception (and dinner) was held at Hilton Park Nicosia. Along with their guest, Helen and Doros partied all night long, literally.
Special thanks to my buddy Chad for coming along and helping me for the weekend #godsend
